Chairman of the Deacon’s

Greg Bradshaw

Greg Bradshaw has been married to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Anne, for 38 years. He has two children and dotes on his six grandsons. He loves his life in the small town of Worland because it’s such a family-oriented community.

Although he was born in church, Greg became a believer in 1991. He currently teaches an adult Sunday school class for First Southern Baptist.

Greg recently returned from Africa where he served on a short term mission outside of Dakar. He’s also been an active part of Celebrate Recovery and the men’s CatchAFire event that Worland hosts every year.
Church Moderator
Roger Lawley
I’m Roger Lawley and I am privileged to serve as a Deacon, Men’s Bible Study Leader and Church Moderator. I’ve lived in Worland and been a member of FSBC since 2001.

I enjoy exploring the truths of the Bible and working with others to develop and grow the ministries of the local church. God has blessed me with an interesting and challenging career in aviation and Human Resource management. Having retired from full time employment in 2015, I enjoy having the time to engage new ministry opportunities.

God has blessed my wife, Martha and me with three wonderful children, two terrific sons-in-law, one wonderful daughter-in-law and four amazing grandchildren.
Ministry Assistant
Nicole Hellyer
Hi! My name is Nicole Hellyer. I grew up in Gillette, WY and moved to Fairview, MT at the beginning of high school and stayed there until 2006. I moved to Worland in June of 2006 and went to work at Sky Aviation. I worked there for four years and then moved on to Big Horn Federal Bank. I worked there until my husband and I got married in June 2012. I left work at the bank to stay home full time with our children. After being a stay-at-home mom to our four kids- Austin, Tucker, Brooklynn and Blake, my husband Josh and I decided it was time to start serving outside of our home. In December 2015 I joined the staff at First Southern Baptist Church as the church secretary/ministry assistant. I also serve our church through our outreach ministry by directing our Halloween Hullabaloo. I am new in my walk with the Lord and enjoy growing in that relationship with my church family.
Worship Leader
Jeff Garza
The best part of worshiping at 1st Southern Baptist in Worland is the fact that we sing, pray, and study God’s Word together corporately because we love Jesus Christ, and we want to give back to our Lord our praises.” Jeff

Hello.  My name is Jeff Garza.  I grew up in a musical Christian family near Sequoia National Park in a small farm town called Dinuba, California.  One of my earliest memories is of ministering to the homeless at a rescue mission each month with my father and telling the good news of Jesus Christ. My wife, Sandra, and I have lived in Worland almost 15 years. We love being a part of this loving church family.

I fervently pray that our corporate worship at 1st Southern Baptist honors God, declares His glory and reflects the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The best part of my role as praise and worship leader is being able to lead a mixture of different worship songs including contemporary, hymns, and choral music, all in the name of Jesus. Our worship team is always mindful that it is not about us, but all about Jesus. We also realize worship is about more than singing; it’s about obedience to our wonderful Lord and Savior.

To me the best part of worshiping at 1st Southern Baptist in Worland is that we sing, pray, and study God’s word together because we truly love Jesus Christ. Whether singing praises inside the walls of our church, in the community, or in other mission settings, our greatest desire is to glorify God.

Youth Leaders
Nate and Katie Schmeltzer
Hello! We are Nate and Katie Schmeltzer and we are the youth Sunday school teachers.  We are both graduates of Worland High School and we were very excited that God lead us back to Worland in 2009 after living in Denver.  We have two wonderful and hilarious children David and Macie, as well as a puppy named Addie! We are passionate about sharing the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone.
Best part of the Church…
We love growing and serving in a church where the God’s Word is the standard and foundational to everything.  We also love doing life together with such a loving and supportive church family.
Sunday School Directors
Bryan and Laura
We met at Montana State University-Billings in 2003 while Laura was pursuing a degree in Elementary Education and Bryan a degree in Business Management.  We started dating in 2004 and were married in Condon, Montana on Bryan’s parents ranch. We lived in Goodyear, Arizona for five years.  While there, Bryan was an assistant golf pro at Phoenix Golf Club and Laura was a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Glendale American.  Though we enjoyed our busy Arizona life we knew God was calling us home to be closer to family.  In May of 2011 we moved to Worland where Bryan took a job as a loan officer and Laura stayed home to raise our only child at the time. Bryan currently works for McGarvin-Moberly Construction as Vice President of Administration.  We now have three beautiful boys and while they keep Laura very busy, she also manages to run a small repurposing business called Refunked Junque from our home.
VBS Director
Laura Barthelmess
My name is Laura Barthelmess. I grew up here in Worland before moving away to attend college in Billings, MT. There I pursued my education degree from MSU-Billings. I met and fell in love with my wonderful husband Bryan. We both resided in Arizona before we wed in 2007. I taught 5th and 6th grade at a school in Glendale, Arizona for five years before we moved back to Wyoming. Once back in Worland I stayed home to raise our three small sons. I also keep busy by running a small business from our home called Refunked Junque where I repurpose furniture and other household décor. I grew up in FSBC and it’s a blessing that the Lord has called us back to Worland so we can raise our children in the same church. I love serving beside my family and church family.
Women’s Bible Study
Martha Lawley

Hi! I’m Martha Lawley and I serve as Women’s Bible Study Leader and a member of our Women’s Ministry Team. I’m honored to help coordinate women’s Bible study opportunities as well as lead our Thursday evening Women’s Bible study group. We also have a great Women’s Bible study group that meets on Tuesday mornings.

I grew up in Worland but moved away to pursue my education and legal career. I’m so thankful God brought my family back to Worland. My husband, Roger and I love living in such a special community.

God has blessed me with many opportunities to minister to women around the country through Bible teaching and leadership development. I love traveling, getting to know people and seeing God at work. Roger recently retired and we’re excited about the new opportunities to serve God together. God has blessed us with three wonderful children, two terrific sons-in-law, one wonderful daughter-in-law and four amazing grandchildren.

Kids Rok Leader
Bryan Barthelmess
“Worland is an incredibly giving community. It comes together to serve its residents in amazing ways. Also, being a small town, I love the fact that everyone knows everyone.” Bryan
My name is Bryan Barthelmess, and I grew up on a ranch in western Montana. After graduating high school, I went to junior college in Miles City, then went on to Montana State University in Billings. I played golf on both college teams, and because of that, I was able to see a lot of the western US (including a trip to Hawaii). While at MSU-B, I met an amazing woman (Laura Barthelmess), and three years later we were married on my parents ranch. Through our first four years of marriage, we lived in Goodyear, AZ, while I chased the dream of playing on the PGA Tour. That dream did not come to fruition, however, another dream of mine did come while in AZ. Laura and I became parents of a little boy in 2009 (Bolen), and I have not been the same since. In 2011, Laura and I decided that we wanted to live closer to family, so we moved back to Worland. Since that move, we have been blessed with two more bouncing baby boys (Brooks & Brenner). The boys are the light of our lives. My spiritual journey truly started when I was 24 in a pew at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Billings. Since then, God has truly guided me, and I am so thankful that I have realized that I am not in control of my life. He is. Through our service at FSBC-Worland, God has continued to develop me, and has given me a heart for children and young married men. I also teach the Kids Rok class on Wednesday Nights. It is truly a blessing to serve God as a member of FSBC-Worland.
Romans 12:4-5
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,  so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
